I meant to post before the holidays, but things just got too crazy (see above title) and I was on a plane to North Carolina before I knew it. I wanted to assure any readers I still may have that despite the lack of posting, I am alive - and have even been working pretty much non-stop. You see, I decided back in August to make all my holiday gifts this year with my letterpress, bookbinding, and gocco skills. I had plans, oh boy, they were great plans. Then in September, as the first step, I printed pages of what would become notepads for my boyfriend's little nieces.
Then I sat on my ass for three months. On the second week of December, my true love brought to me: a realization that I had two weeks to make a million presents. That doesn't quite fit the tune of the song, but you get the idea. And if you're a procrastinator like me, perhaps you can imagine the insanity and panic.
It wasn't completely my fault, in that I had to wait for my extremely busy boyfriend to take time away from his important schoolwork to build me an amazing book press, but really, it's my fault. I had plans for these awesome letterpress clocks that I had to shelve since I didn't have the time to properly think them out and plan them. Next year, though - and now everyone knows what they'll get for their birthdays. (Actually I'm not sure that anyone I know reads this. It's too wonky. I've been told however that some people look at pictures).
Speaking of pictures, that's what I've got for you. Pictures of my completed presents (that's right, I still owe a few), for better or for worse, and a wish for a happy, more organized new year.
